The Houdini Film Stock (ISO 6) - Magic in Every Frame

Specifications:

  • Film Type: (Eastman 5399) Film Stock

  • ISO: 6

  • Processing: ECN-2, C-41, E-6, or traditional B&W chemicals

Product Overview: Have you ever loaded black and white film but wished you’d gone with color instead? With The Houdini, you don’t have to choose! This magical film stock lets you change your mind even after the shutter clicks. Develop it in B&W chemicals for crisp monochrome images, or opt for C-41 for unexpected color results. Feeling adventurous? Try ECN-2 for classic cinema vibes, or E-6 for stunning color reversals. The possibilities are endless, making this film a true magician’s tool!

One Stock, Endless Possibilities: Originally known as Eastman 5399, Houdini was developed by Kodak in the 90s for news gathering, offering incredible flexibility in processing. This ISO 6 film was designed to meet the fast-paced demands of news stations, allowing them to develop footage in whatever chemicals were available to get breaking stories on air quickly.

Magic Spots & Skelly-Dini’s Mischief: You might notice some quirky circular holes in the emulsion, affectionately called "Magic Spots." These are remnants from the film’s original purpose in automated systems. While they were invisible in motion pictures, they add a vintage, magical touch to still images. If these spots are too much for your taste, a quick clone stamp in your favorite editing software should do the trick!
